Stremio has no built-in IPTV or live TV support. Third-party community add-ons can load an M3U playlist and a TV guide, but they are not made or supported by Stremio and their quality varies. For live channels with a proper TV guide, a dedicated player such as TiviMate or IPTV Smarters Pro is more reliable.
What Stremio is, and isn’t
Stremio gathers movies and series from add-ons into one interface. Its focus is on-demand video. It was not designed as a live TV player with a grid guide, channel groups and catch-up, which is what IPTV viewers usually want.
How IPTV add-ons work
Some independent developers publish Stremio add-ons that read an IPTV M3U playlist and, optionally, an XMLTV guide, then list the channels in Stremio. To use one:
- Open Stremio and go to the Add-ons section.
- Install the add-on you chose from its page, or by entering its address.
- Configure it with your M3U link (and guide link, if supported).
- Channels appear under the add-on’s catalogue.
We don’t endorse any specific add-on. Their behaviour depends on the developer.
Risks and limits
- Your playlist link contains your login. If you enter it into a hosted add-on configuration page, the add-on’s server sees it. Only use add-ons you trust, and ask your provider to change your password if you’re unsure.
- No official support from Stremio or from your IPTV provider.
- Weak guide features. No full grid guide, recording or catch-up like in a dedicated player.
- Add-ons come and go and can break after an update.
