For IPTV the two numbers that matter are memory and the wired port. Large channel lists and a full TV guide use RAM, and Ethernet removes most buffering caused by Wi-Fi. That is why we recommend the Pro.
Buying an onn box in Canada
onn is a Walmart brand. Some Walmart.com listings carry a “U.S. compatible only” note, and model availability differs between Walmart US and Walmart Canada, so check the listing before you order. If you can’t get one, a Fire TV Stick 4K, a Google TV Streamer or an Android TV box does the same job with the same apps.
Step-by-step: IPTV on an onn box
- Connect the box, sign in with your Google account, and plug in Ethernet if you have the Pro.
- Open Google Play on the box and install TiviMate (best TV guide) or IPTV Smarters Pro (simplest login).
- Open the app and choose Xtream Codes. Enter the server URL, username and password from our email or WhatsApp message.
- Let the channels and guide load, then add your favourite channels to a favourites group.
- In the box’s display settings, turn on match frame rate if available; sports look smoother.
You don’t need to sideload anything: both apps are on Google Play for Google TV. If you want an app that isn’t, install Downloader from Google Play and allow it under Settings → System → About (developer options) and Apps → Security → Unknown sources.
